Before my son was born I was adamant I was going to exclusively breastfeed. Three hours after my son was born we were topping up with formula because we couldn’t get a good latch despite our and the nurses best efforts. In walked in the angel Aamena, that saved me and my breastfeeding journey. With her grace, patience and sage advice we were able to persevere and succeed in breastfeeding. I was adamant to breastfeed my child, which eventually happened, but I could not have done it without the support of my Lactation Consultant.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow when you are a medical doctor, and have to admit that you don’t know what to do. Aamena was more than understanding, and she made me feel more like a mother, than a doctor, which I so needed. Having breastfed 2 children before, you wonder what is going wrong this time. Aamena taught me so many things I didn’t know before, and really made things easier. She advised in a way that was very personalised and integrative. Breastfeeding is beautiful and my wish is for every mum out there to be able to realise it and enjoy it.
